[philmont] Gaiters

The gaiters suggestion has me really confused. You see a lot of California
hikers wearing them because of nettles or something along those lines when
they are wearing shorts.

I've never had rocks in my hiking boots unless I was climbing scree. I've
never run into anything like that at Philmont and if so you would go through
it clean out your boots and then keep hiking. I don't think gaiters for 10
days would be worth that.

I have a question. How are they getting in your boots? If you boots are
anything about ankle bone high, you have to be kicking them up or catching
them in your tread and having them fall in your boots? I guess the action
of getting the rocks in there has me confused more than anything?

P.S. Let's all keep working on John. I've never heard of a back pack
intervention, but if there ever was a need....

Merry Christmas to you too.

But! I'm gonna get your fer dat. It might be next year, but I'm gonna get
you fer dat. Probably siphon some more gas from your rental van far from
the town gas station like I did this past year.

Heck, we got a coupla hundert miles down the road on the three canteens
worth I got.

Funny thing about Crocs, I was just looking at them in the Cabelas Christmas
catalog this morning wondering who in their right mind would buy such a
thing.
