[Philmont] trekking with your son

Maria writes: "Did you make the trek with your son?...wondering if you have any tips?"

I recommend getting a copy of Return to the Summit of Scouting, a Scouter's Midlife Journey Back to Philmont, by William F. Cass. Cass, a Philmont staffer of three years' tenure describes those three summers of his youth in the sixties, then describes the trek he took in the early 90's with his son, Will.
