[Philmont] Appropriate Footwear

This afternoon my wife and I visited a new store near our home called Tractor Supply Company. They carry just what the name implies for the most part. Tractor Supplies adn everythign connected with tractors adn the people who operate them and the lives they live. From Carhart coats, Red Wing boots to rabbit pellets and all sorts of fittings for tractors and trailers. I love that store. They even got a series of toy tractors an 8 year old would give his right arm for. Where was that store when I was that age?
   
  While browsing through I couldn't help but notice some Crocs look alike knockoffs for half the price of the real McCoys. Another man was looking at them and commented "those must be for sissy farmers". I guess I'm not the only one who thinks so. I passed on them again.
   
  Anyway, I was standing in the checkout line with about 80lbs of cat food, 150lbs of dog food, some Tom Cat rat traps which sure are good - thats another story) and some odds and ends.
   
  The fellow in front of me was returning a Carhart coat someone gave him as a gift and he told the clerk "it's just not my style". There was no doubt what his style was. Anyway, I leaned on my cart to rest as it was taking an inordinate amount of time and it rolled forward about 3-4" toward this "gentle man". He looked at me and then said "please don't do that it makes me nervous". Feeling a bit strange about the request since I had not come close to his toeless sandle clad feet, I said "sorry, I'll try to be more thoughtful and not make you nervous".
   
  Well, it happened again because of my lapse of attention or neglect and he had a real hissy fit which I ignored but the man behind me did not.
   
  He stepped out of line and said "look mister, this is a tractor supply place and they sell real mens boots right over there (and pointed to the boot section of the store) and if you wore real mans boots instead of those sissy sandals you wouldn't have to worry about getting your pinkies pinched".
   
  Well, he finally exchanged the tough guy coat for something more appropriate and left.
   
  I looked at the guy behind me and he said "boy it takes all kinds doesn't it?".
   
  I couldn't help but this time in line with the sandal man and think about appropriate footwear while there in Tractor Supply.
   
  Being at Philmont is sort of like being at Tractor Supply. If you wear appropriate footwear, you have nothing to worry about, if you don't the littlest thing that wouldn't even bother the rest of the world will ruin your day.
