Back to the juice boxes. On my 3 summer treks we have always enjoyed 2 per
day. The Philfood does not give you enough vitamin C.
So, its 2 per day for 11 days to make a grand total of 22 juice boxes. To
make is easier to strap to the inside of our internal frame packs we go
ahead and round it up to 24 or an even case of juice.
In 06 we had one boy who forgot about his juice and carried the case all
they way back to base camp over the Tooth Ridge. This was great as we had a
double shot at our final juice toast at base camp. I take all the blame for
this youth forgetting his vitamin C as this crew did not take any training
or training hikes and we had always covered this on the training hikes.
There is at least two good things about the juice boxes, 1 your nalgene does
not become a smellable and the other is having all these waxy cartons makes
it much easier to start our campfires!
We'll I have to go water a tree, um I mean a rock.
