This has always bee a bit tricky in on-line forums. Much like at bars
after a days fishing you can bet that things are gonna get pulled and
stretched a bit.

Sometimes to make the story sound more interesting, sometimes to press a
point the poster is trying to make, maybe once in a long while with
some kind of mean intent.

I don't know know what happened on the canoe list. I do know that when
John hit his reply to the Philmont list that there was some exaggeration
going on. How did I know this? Math...... ya see he gave us a level of
experience that would have had him being a canoe expert at something
like 3 years old. I'm sure John will explain how he was such an expert
at a young age but who is gonna believe that? More important..... who
cares?

In my world I am proud to say I have 33 years in Scouting. Math proves
that 41-8 = 33 but does not tell of the years that I was not really
active and maybe should not count..... Therefore someone who has been a
SM EVERY WEEK for the past 10 probably has done more than I have......
who cares?

This is fun if we all play well and know who will be able to play well
with our personalities. I would never have thought to poke fun at
Doug's juice box setup last year at this time. I did not know him, he
did not know me and the risk of bad outweighed the fun. Today we are
both fair game..... unless I become the hunted next year in which case I
want to rethink my position.

There is a fine line between telling the story to be of interest and not
being trustworthy. Some of us do a better job with that line than
others.

Now lets go have a Merry Christmas. I have not got presents from all of
you yet, let me know if you need my address again as there is still time
to get things in the mail. I like presents.

Full Disclosure: Doug did not really have a full case of Juice boxes.
He was carrying the dehydrated stuff.
