[Philmont]: Shake Downs

Here in Southern New Jersey, the land of zero altitude (we're about as sea
level as one can get) it's tough to get conditioned. I'm looking for some
good rugged terrain that won't take us forever to get to. Can anyone in
Northeastern PA, CT or NY recommend some good shakedown hikes and locations
that you've taken? Thanks.
