Mosquitos were somewhat common when I was there last June in the South and
Central regions. I got bit some around Apache Springs, Fish Camp, and
Lookout Meadow. My legs were blothed w/ red and itched for a day or so.
The year before that (2000), the North Country had some biting flies, in
late July/early August. More of a nuisance than anything!
Reading the varied reports from some of the elders, I think elevation, time,
and weather are all factors to this., but you really don't need bug
repellant. (Extra weight in my opinion). Hope this helps!
