Re: [Philmont]: Trekking Poles

On some topics (such as stoves and raingear that are good year round)
I think that the sender should make clear whether they're from Florida
or Minnesota - it has a big impact on the information.

As a 42 year old first time Philmonter this summer, I would absolutely
like to know how old people are, so I can calibrate their trekking
pole comments.

(If it's not too sensitive a topic)

| I used one pole on my first trek (Trekker 3-section collapsible, rubber =
| tip), and found it to be so valuable, I got a 2nd pole - different =
| brand, adjustable height, spring-loaded, carbide tip this time. I use =
| them both. (Actually got that one free when I won a drawing at the =
| outdoor store - yippee for me!) Don't have any problem with them being =
| slightly different, I adjust the heights the same. I also found that =
| the carbide tip grips even better & have both of them set that way. =
| Contrary to a lot of other items, I don't have great opinions on pole =
| brand or style, just that my poles are not optional equipment to me!!
