John brings up a good point about pack buckles.
My first day of Ranger training my first summer, one of the guys in our
training crew steped on his hip buckle after setting his pack down in camp.
Luckily, my training ranger had a spare. After witnessing that, I made it a
point to tell my crews to buckle their hip belts when they set their packs
down. There should be atleast one of these in your crew gear somewhere.
