I have stayed on Philmont between the Inbound and Outbound tents (which
Philmont frowns upon) and also Kit Carson Inn. The Kit is of course more
costly but well worth it. We had an nice dinner and breakfast there just
before going to Philmont. We arranged with the Philbus for About $3.00 per
person to ride from Cimarron (Kit Carson) to Philmont, our lead advisor
settled up at administration. We arrived at the welcome center about 8:15am
and got a good start on checking in. I believe the Kit Carson's number is in
the Planning guide. Please note the town of Cimarron rolls up the sidewalks
at 6:00pm and there is absolutely nothing happening after that.
If you choose to do this you need only request the Philbus when you send
your itinerary selection in March/ April. It doesn't hurt to confirm this
with transportation a few days before you depart home.

Subject: accommodations in Cimarron
Would those of you who know Cimarron accommodations please comment on
your experiences? In your opinions, what is the best place to stay,
considering location, price, hospitality, ease of transport to Philmont,
etc? Are there possibilities other than those listed in the Planning
Guide? I represent a troop contingent of two crews. We want to be able
to use the Philmont bus for transportation from Cimarron to Philmont
check-in on our first day. Thanks.
