You basically have three choices for lodging i n Cimarron:
--Kit Carson Inn in Cimarron...We stayed here last year for $59/room (4 boys
per room). Your basic budget motel - nothing fancy, but clean and
comfortable. Restaurant on property. 1-800-293-7961
--Cimarron Inn & RV Park...Similar to Kit Carson, but the rooms are all
themed - a unique touch. (505) 376-2268
--St. James Hotel...Historic property on the south side of town. Has a
coffee shop and dining room. More expensive than Kit Carson & Cimarron Inn.

Philmont provides a bus from Cimarron the morning of your arrival for
$5/person - contact them in advance to arrange this service. FYI, none of
the motels in Cimarron have swimming pools. There are about 5 or 6 choices
for places to eat - everything is within walking distance of everything
else.
You can also arrive at Philmont a night early, though they try to discourage
this to aviod overcrowding in Tent City and at the Dining Hall. I believe
it costs $8 per person for the extra night plus $4 per meal.
