Re: [Philmont]: Crew t-shirts

In 2001, we just modified the Philmont logo, similar to your design, but
much smaller and just on the crest of the shirt. We're doing the same thing
for 2003, just changing the crew number. The boys were not real interested
in designing anything either year, so I went ahead and did it and got their
approval before ordering the shirts. Ideally, they would have, but this
worked too.

As for working on Philmont things at troop meetings, I would expect it
depends on the rest of the troops' thoughts on it, and the attitude of the
crew. If they are perceived as 'elite' in any sense, and if there are any
'politics' or hard feelings among anyone, it could be awkward. We've tried
to keep Philmont business to a minimum and not let it interfere with
regular troop business and activities. As the crew members are senior
scouts, they still need to be available if needed to work with the younger
scouts at meetings. Also, Philmont planning and team-building/training
etc. takes longer than the time allowed at a troop meeting anyway, so much
of the crew business is handled at separate times. The troop schedule is
always considered first when planning crew campouts, again, to not
interfere with troop activities. Just my 2 cents...
