AND if you buy before February 15 (Saturday), Amtrak has a "buy one, get one
free" deal going. There are some restrictions, of course, but its a pretty
good deal if you can take advantage of it.

You can find the details here:

http://www.amtrak.com/savings/bogo.html

Our guys are stoked about taking the train, figuring it may be their only
chance to travel this way. And the fact that we were able to get the
tickets WAY below our initial estimate made them happy, too.

Amtrak has variable pricing. They may have 50 seats at $100, then another
50 seats at $150 then the rest of seats at $200. (Example only not actual
numbers or fees.)

You can book your seats up to11 months ahead of time. For a round trip,
you book 11 months from the return boarding date.

Also they have youth prices where 2 youth under 16 can travel at half price
for each adult boarding.

We booked on the earliest date and got the youth passes where we
could. Then we divided the entire bill by 12 to get the charge per person
for our budget report. We just over $150 per person.
