The Scout Relations officer at the Air Force Academy (719-333-7482) advised
me that while the campground is still available each group must include an
adult who has a current Dept of Defense ID. Tours of the Academy are
likewise restricted. If threat levels increase there will be no public
access at all. That rules out the use of the campground to my crew and most
others. The youth hostel at Ft. Carson is also restricted. I think that
you can forget about camping on military bases.
Does anyone have any suggestions for camping in the Colorado Springs/Pueblo
area?
