Re: [Philmont]: Sister crews

This past August at Fish Camp I had the opportunity to talk to a crew leader
of one of two crews travelling together. They had chosen the same itinerary
even though the groups were not equal in age and capability. The older,
more experienced crew was up early, out on the trail early, and not
experiencing any significant lags EXCEPT for the sister crew. The second
crew was at least one hour later in arriving at Fish Camp than their more
experienced counterparts. From my observation, neither crew (adults and
youth) were have a great Philmont experience.

As our unit had only one crew travelling, I can only report from this
experience. I would recommend that each crew go their different way, and if
by chance they can cross-paths once or twice during the trek, that would be
great.
