Garry,

I used something like Tevas in 1998 and was happy I did. I think it's
important to take camp shoes that could double as trail shoes in an
emergency. In other words, moccasins or slippers wouldn't be a good choice.

Subject: [Philmont]: camp shoes

Anyone have any thoughts on light weight camp shoes. Since weight is an
issue, I know that guys who carry sneakers in sizes from 11 and up will have
a heavier load. What about Tevas? Someone said that these are okay now. We
have always insisted on close toes shoes on campouts for obvious reasons.
What has worked for you experienced trekkers?
