Unless you troop is "expert" at backpacking and packing light, expect pack
weights to be at least 45 lbs total. They may very will start off over 50.
We were an experienced backpacking troop and continually cut things down
during shakedowns, but those were the weights we ended up with. I was
amazed when I put it on the scale at Philmont. My son was about 110 lbs and
his pack was 48.
