We did a short trek several years ago. They occur in the month of Aug as Philmont's summer season comes to an end and staff begin to leave.
We had a great deal of latitude in designing our itinerary. We chose to start at Lover's Leap, Crater Lake, Beubien (sp) two nights, Fish Camp, then Abreu to finish it off.
The same programs were available to us as the regular treks had but there was a sense of closer in the air as we passed through each camp.
Still had a great experience! We will get to try it again in 2005 as our trek dates are
8-2/13.
