During a shakedown in the Ozark mountains in March 2001, we woke up to 17'F
temps. The raingear worked great as another layer, particulary when we crossed
ridges with lots of wind. We have had cases of hypothermia before, so our
scouts just assume rain tops and pants are required, without question. I
personally prefer Gore Tex with pit zippers, as it works well for me. Cut other
corners for weight, not raingear.
