In 2002, we went to Taos 2 days early, "hoteled" up, and did an acclimation
hike up to Williams Lake (just below Wheeler Peak - the peak was closed due
to fire danger). You can read about it at

worth the extra days - let everyone acclimate a litte and work together in
crews one last time...
