White Gas is sold at Basecamp and at all Commissaries in the
back-country. The price is "reasonable" (.75 per pint bottle for my
2002 trek). Incoming Crews usually give away their remaining gas to
Outbound Crews. If you're sharp-eyed, you will see Scouts or advisors
crossing No-Man's Land (the strip between Homebound and Trailbound
Crews) with one or more fuel bottles in hand. If you pounce quickly,
they're all yours. I have never heard of anyone asking to be paid for
their surplus gas, but I'm sure it happens. On those rare occasions
where we came off the trail with gas, we gave it away in a hot minute.
