I would agree with everything Dr. Bob said about the rope he took.
One other point: if you get your own rope, you will want to work it -- a
lot -- before hitting the trail. Our started out almost as stiff as wire,
and was impossible to throw in its "new" state.
And expect it to look pretty bad by the end. The bear cables chew up the
sheathing something awful, but the rope is perfectly suitable for lower
strength uses back home.
