Okay, I don't claim to be an expert, but I've been using trekking poles
for some years and know what works for me.
First, the utility of particular trekking poles are as individual as
the person using them. Therefore, you should take other persons
experience with a grain of salt, your knees, conditions and style
may cause varying results.
Anyway, on those particular poles:
These are two section rather than 3 section, so they won't pack as
small when not in use. I would find this very inconvenient. I've got
terrain to cover where using poles can be unhelpful, and put them in
my pack. My three section poles are barely small enough to not stick
out and snag things. Can't imagine the problems I'd have with longer
poles.
On the other hand, the keepers between telescoping sections can fail,
or tend to collapse on cheaper poles (even more expensive ones), and so
you have fewer points of failure. You pays your money and takes your
chances.
Leki makes good poles in general.
These poles don't have shock absorbing springs. For me, that would
be more than enough reason not to buy them. I really appreciate that
feature. I know lots of people who find it of little to no value, however.
I suspect it is related to weight, heavier hikers may find the shock
absorbers more helpful.
I would not buy these poles.
Regards
Don Roberts
