Roman,

An Inuit elder from Nunavut once told me that the wisest thing a man can do
is know his own limitations. It is this knowledge that has kept them alive
in the arctic for centuries.

You are wise indeed - though I wish you wouldn't leave the list.

Cheers

Mike

Subject: [Philmont]: Leaving the list - thanks for the help

I made my only Philmont Trek in 1999 and led the planning our 2003 trek
even though I did not go. Now we have other veteran adults who are able to
do future trek plans.

I still would love to go back to Philmont but it will never happen. At age
55 with bad knees, I now find I have Asthma. Could I do the trek? I think
so. My fear is that I would be the weakest link in the crew, a role an
adult advisor should never be in. This would also include any non-Philmont
troop trek.

Any future backpacking will probably be short 3 day trips with my family.

I learned a lot from the list. I just do not need the Philmont information
any more. Thanks for all you have shared.
