Although I cannot vouch for its accuracy, the standard statement made
about incorrect/incomplete physicals through most of the 90's is that
they (Philmont med staff) would send you into town to get a new exam, at
a cool $300. (Be a heck of a summertime retirement gig for any G.P. on
the List who doesn't mind living in a tent for 9 weeks!)
FWIW, one of my standard pre-trek taskings is to review every form in
detail, whether for a single Crew or an entire contingent, making sure
every signature is present, photocopies of insurance cards (front and
back) are attached, all info is filled in, prescription med forms are
filled out and attached, etc. Tedious but critical.
Obviously, you can't do this if you have people handing you forms as
you're assembling at the airport. That is exactly how you end up with
unexpected problems at the med checks. Or scratch that and make it
"expected" problems.
Fair warning....
