Subject: [Philmont]: Burros
An apocryphal story from Philmont last summer. We were discussing
misbehavior at Philmont. (The human sumping lawsuit story took an hour.)
Our Ranger told the story of troop from Japan that became so frustrated with
the burros that they pushed the poor animals off a cliff. He said the Troop
was permanently barred from Philmont. The scouts in the tent next to me
stayed awake until after 2 a.m.; "how could anyone do that?", "where were
their leaders?", "of course they were caught, burros would not slip off a
cliff without any gear on their backs." An unforgettable Philmont moment.
