Camp Quest is an Executive Bonding Camp located off 11 Mile Canyon
roughly an hour west of Colorado Springs. You probably heard about it
because it's mentioned in many of my on-line diaries. It is not a
climbing camp per se, but I have been contracting with a rock climbing
guide in C.S. (Mark Van Horn) for about 10 years to go there with my
Crews. There is a good set of cliffs with climbs from about a 5.4 to a
5.11 or 5.12 About the best I can do anymore is a 5.9, maybe a 5.10 if
I've had a machismo injection, but I have had a couple of Scouts who
could handle the 5.11/5.12 routes. It is not a public access camp; Mark
has a special arrangement with the owners. I last went in 2002, so I
can't guarantee you that he's still in the business. He is not cheap,
but he is reasonable, and can give you a pretty good experience for the
money. We usually get 4 - 5 hours of climbing in. If you're
interested, contact me off-line and I'll do an archaelogical dig and
find his phone number.
