I suggest starting out with Lithium batteries. They weigh about 1/3 to 1/2 as much as normal batteries & they last much much longer. The down side is that they cost about $10 for 4 double AAs. I find it well worth the cost. There are a couple different brands out there most are colored silver & blue. The more expensive ones are usually better.
