[Philmont]: Cavalcade PACKS booklet

Our troop is number 1,048 on the 2007 trek waiting list so we had pretty
much given up on getting a troop trek that summer. Then this weekend I
received a letter saying we were selected for a Cavalcade Trek, so I
guess I am going back to Philmont.. On horseback!

I need to return the application form with deposits and rank our
preferred trek dates by April 1. The trek dates are arranged in two
columns, north country treks and south country treks. Yet there is very
little information on the web about either to help make an educated
selection. I do know that the north treks start from Ponil and that
there may be an opportunity to do a side hike up Baldy. Likewise, the
southern treks start from HQ and you may be able to hike up ToT. And I
know that they are 6 nights long and each night is at a staffed camp and
THE HORSES COME FIRST! :-) I would also hazard a guess that there is
not a lot of trek selection as the trails would likely be restricted. In
fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there are only two treks, the north and
the south, given the logistics involved.

So...

A) can someone enlighten me on what camps the north and south treks
visit (subject to change, of course).

B) I'd also be appreciative if someone could loan me their PACKS booklet
so I can jump start my own knowledge on the Cavalcade program. I can
provide mailing info off list if someone is willing to help.

Thanks
