Philmont doesn't have a problem with propane stoves. However, you should know that the only fuel that Philmont sells is white gas or the Coleman PowerMax cartridges. If you are driving to the ranch, you could transport your propane canisters with you. However, if you are flying, these are prohibited items. I guess you could have them shipped via ground transport if you really want to use this type of stove.

Subject: [Philmont]: Propane Stoves
I am under the impression that propane stoves are either not recommended
or not allowed for Philmont.
Can someone tell me which (not allowed or not recommended) and why?
I believe the answer is that they are allowed but not recommended due to
having to carry all the canisters in and out during the whole Trek. Or
maybe they don't work well at altitude.
I am asking because a member of our crew has one and wants to use it as
opposed to having to buy a second white gas stove for our crew.
