The official line is:
"For the safety of the rider and the horse, there is a 200-pound weight
limit for all riders."
Likely an arbitrary position, but probably necessary to save wear and tear
on the animals ... I suspect being a Horse or Burro at Philmont ain't the
best gig going.
This detail is included in the Cavalcade description on the Philmont Website
but also applies to Horse Rides at Beaubien, Clarks Fork or Ponil.
