I know that lots of people like frog toggs. I had a scout on my crew in 2005 with frog toggs, the first time he hiked in the rain, they got ripped apart by the underbrush. Maybe that was fluke, maybe not. It was on the 2nd or 3rd day, luckily we didn't have a lot of rain, but still he spent some wet time after that.

I have the pleasure of outfitting my youngest daughter who has decided she'd like to try this backpacking thing before our trek next year. I've hit the REI and Backcountry sales for pack, bag, and pad. Boots will be a local puchase.
I need rain gear. Does anyone out there have any experience with the Frogg Toggs? I have Gore Tex and the Red Ledge pseudo-Gore Tex, but am looking for something lighter (and much less expensive in case this doesn't work out...) for her to carry.
Thanks in advance!
