The missing shoe thread was me.
I heard this from our council high adventure guy who said he heard it at one
of the advisors meetings at base camp. Based on what I've seen in lost &
found boxes, or even items I've found in camp or on the trail, 20 missing
shoes actually didn't seem that far off.
It would be interesting to see other Philmont numbers...
How many trail tents do they have?
how many two man meals get consumed each day?
rolls of toilet paper consumed each season?
what's the most purchased trail item purchase at the trading post, which may
indicate the most forgotten item that we failed to pack?
etc
Regards,
Tom Fitzpatrick

Strother Hollingsworth notes...

The 20 boots disappearing a year statistic didn't come from me. Someone
else added that statistic. I only made the point you should have a backup
incase one or both of your boots disappear.

Sorry about that! Looks like I got a little sloppy in my cut and pasting of
the relevant items in the thread. Maybe it was Tom Fitzpatrick? Whoever
it was, some input on the source of that statistic would be appreciated.
