[philmont] Frogg Toggs?

Sorry for the confusing message. We're a Washington troop -- we carry full rain gear everywhere all the time. Here, it can drizzle and rain for an entire campout, so Philmont is a pleasure, where it usually only rains for a few hours.

And as someone else noted, Marmot Precips can become standard wardrobe. My older son lives in his about eight months of the year.

YiS,

Rick Tyler

Do not read into Rick's comments that the rain pants aren't needed, or listen to over agressive weight conscious Rangers that they are an item that can be left in Base Camp.  I too rarely wear mine on the trail, but they are an essential health and safety item to prevent hypothermia, and I always carry them (including sidehikes.)
