Just a point for the person who asked about vegetarian substitution meals. on the application for the trail crew check they have an option for vegetarian meals so it seems that maybe Philmont is putting together a vegetarian package for all applicants erasing the need to bring your own food.

Subject: [philmont] Trail Crew Trek -- 2007
Today, I received a letter from Chris Ives, the young man who served as
our guide during Autumn Adventure at Philmont back in October.
Among other things, Chris informed me about a new individual Philmont
program called Trail Crew Trek. The cost is $265 for the two week
experience. Participants must be at least age 16 by the day the program
begins, but not 21 by its conclusion. There will be 3 sessions:
June 9 - 22 (an all male crew)
July 27 - August 10 (2 co-ed crews)
