[philmont] Photo Gear at Philmont

Very well said. With small, almost no weight digital cameras today, it shouldn't even be an issue. In my view, it's NOT crew gear. It's personal and so are the photos. We spend more words here trying to describe it but a couple of the photos described by Jim will do what a thousand words cannot.

Subject: [philmont] Photo Gear at Philmont

I keep thinking about the idea of just a couple of photographers doing all the photos. Yes, there probably are 80% of the same shots for 12 people on a trek, but.

I think I would rather have my child laughing hysterically at an out of focus photo that makes him laugh then a professional slide show. I think I want to see things from my child's view of Philmont, not the pros. If nothing else that might be a foot height difference.

I want to see Philmont through the eyes of the child who experienced Philmont, not the best scrapbook in the world. I want the photographs to bring back memories for the child, not necessarily line the walls. I think sharing photos to have a great selection of great photos is a great idea.

But the greatest photo is going to be the one that brings the greatest smile to my child's face after Philmont, not matter what the subject or how out of focus it may be.

Jim
