[philmont] Space is Available

We have spaces open for up to 4 Scouts in our 2007 Philmont 3-crew troop
contingent. Please help us fill those slots with your Scouts.

We leave McKinney June 8 and return June 23. We'll travel in sleeper buses
with booths that make into beds after the movie; no sitting up in hard seats
all night. Saturday morning, we've got several activities planned in Taos.
That afternoon, we will raft the Rio Grande, grill some steaks at our
covered pavilion campground, and have a Dutch oven desert cook off among the
crews. Sunday, our big, private bus will drive us up to Red River where we
have some more great stuff planned, including a chair lift ride to the top
of the mountains overlooking Philmont. We have a place to sleep Sunday in
Cimarron but before bed we'll tour the Old Mill western museum and a haunted
hotel. Day 1 is Monday. Everyone will already be acclimated to Base Camp
elevation. We return to McKinney on a Saturday, giving a day of rest before
starting the summer job.

The trip fee is $1,090 which includes the PhilPhee, the bus, all meals going
and coming home, 3 T-shirts (2 crew, 1 contingent), all entrance and
admission fees to the pre-Philmont attractions, the raft trip, and a special
item of memorabilia like those found only in the most exclusive backpacking
shops of the ancient and mysterious Orient. The only money a contingent
member will need is for an optional snack at a truck stop or two, plus money
for the usual and customary souvenirs and back country goodies. Your Scouts
will need to catch up with everyone else in their payments which so far
total $750. The remainder is due in March, April, and May.

We primarily looking for Scouts who live close enough that they can go on
the shakedown hikes and train with their crew, or at least meet us at the
trailheads. Wherever they live, they'll have to come to McKinney on June
8th and board the bus. McKinney is about 40 miles due north from downtown
Dallas.

None of the Scouts on this year's contingent have been to Philmont. The
crews already have Scouts from troops other than ours; so, your guys won't
feel like they're sticking out. We're good at being a modern "blended
family."

All three Lead Advisors have been on Philmont expeditions before, some
multiple times. Our troop is very Philmont-experienced.

Please scour the Earth, particularly if you live in Circle Ten Council or
Lone Star Council, and help us give the Philmont experience to 4 Scouts who
otherwise can't go this year.

You can private email me with your phone number; I promise I'll call you
back.
