Great post Dr Bob!
For many of the cub scout events I was in charge of, one of my staffers was
a great gentleman by the name of Mike Sharratt. Mike had a heart condition
that prohibited him from doing a lot of the outdoor hands on scouting, but
he was always there to take care of managing the paperwork as long as I
could keep him in the AC. Always during the planning stage as we were
discussing numbers attending and the greatness of each activity at some
point Mike would ask, so Sharon, how does that benefit the boys? It was his
way of making sure the focus stayed on the boys. After Mike passed, I made
it a point when I did any scouting event to at some point ask myself, so
Sharon, how does that benefit the boys? It's easy to loose that focus. I'll
always miss Mike, but his "Sharrattism" will always be in the back of my
mind.
