[philmont] Ponil Cantina Show Venue

Hear hear!

As I said in my original post.....if you want the activity, reserve the trek!

Our crew could have hiked lots more miles but decided that they wanted to pursue activities. We had a mostly older crew and everyone could have handled a LOT more wear and tear. But they wanted to have FUN at Philmont! We reserved, based upon the WONDERFUL comparison spreadsheet obtained here on the LIST, the trek with the most towns with activities. We HAD A BLAST!!! We live in GA and if we want to hike 100 miles we can go to the Applachian trail any time!

So why should crews who want to "have it all" by reserving many miles with no activities be permitted to displace those crews who expressly reserved the activities?

I could go on, but I'll shut up. Book the trek you want and stick to it. If you pick up extra activities AFTER CREWS WHO RESERVED THE ACTIVITIES are finished, then more power to you. But don't whine if you can't!

  John,

Before you pass judgment, I stayed at the adviser coffee area and let the crews go to the show most never get in. By the way, I have taken crews scheduled for rock climbing which on their trek and were turned away because crews beat us to the activity and that activity was not on their itinerary.

Please stay on your itineraries so everyone can have a good time without disappointments.

Another idea to the overcrowding at Ponil is advisors that go to Ponil six times in three years might want to reduce that to only once per year or even not go at all so as to let others who haven't been at all get a crack at it.

Last time I was there, my wife and I had the entire cantina to ourselves. Of course that was in October.

If you aren't part of the solution, then you must be part of the problem.
