Here's another vote for Marmot's Precip rain gear. I bought a set in 2001, and never regretted it. They've been to Philmont 4 times, and kept me dry on numerous shakedowns, personal backpacking expeditions, and high school and college soccer games. Granted, I take good care of my gear, but this stuff shows no signs of wear.
I don't hike while wearing the pants often. They're for warmth as much as anything.
