Last year several crew members bought Frogg Toggs based on weight, price, and performance. They all ended up returning them after a very rainy training weekend. Since they don't stretch, many of them ripped at the seams.
After that, several of them went for the BassPro RedHead Thunderhead rain gear (pants $20, jacket $30). All of them were satisfied. It rained 9 days on the trail, and they held up well.
I only wore my rain pants once - at base camp.
However, one evening I got caught in a downpour without them. At 45 degrees, I was sorry I didn't have them with me. Even though I had my rainjacket on, it took a while to get dry and warm again.
