As we all know, the Stake Gnomes steal your stakes. But that's OK,
cause the Stake Fairies usually return some replacements. Sorry, fair
trade value is not guaranteed. Especially for titanium.
Seriously, however, it does help to train your Scouts to count their
stakes when collecting them, and also emphasize that one Scout per tent
is responsible for all the stakes on that tent. That tends to avoid the
"I thought YOU got the stakes!" syndrome. Ditto for poles, by the way.
In addition, unless we need them (which is rare), my Crews are also
trained to leave any extra stakes we find hanging on the outside of the
fire pit ring. That's certainly many dozens of stakes over the years,
from all the Crews I've so trained. [No cracks about who's the real
stake fairy, please.] Please train your Crews to do likewise - it will
certainly help some Scouts, some time later that summer.
