I like this guy Brian Martin. Takes along both a poncho and a rain suit. That's a true Scout, be prepared. That way you are covered for the 99 things a poncho is good for plus the one thing it won't do which is keep you dry which a rain suit will do, therby getting 100% coverage.
Way to do!.
Now, if you don't mind, let me suggest if you find the first ranger to be, let this second ranger to be get with him right here in the open. Don't hide their light under a bushel. Get it out in the open so we advisors can get a sneak preview of what they are going to throw at us on the trail so we can be prepared to counter their attack on our old age with a little trechery of our own.
Nothing beats being prepared unless its spy work, so let the planning begin!
John LeBlanc
P S For starters let's get them practicing on cooking real ranger cobbler. That Sara Lee pound cake and canned cherries is getting a little old.

A month or so ago there was at least one question from a new ranger about what advice/suggestions the list members would share with him so as to prepare himself....
Well, I have a scout who informed me about a month ago that he had also been accepted as a Philranger.
I was wondering if the other new Ranger is still on this list...if so please respond so I may put the two of you together....OFF LIST....that way you won't need to wear a poncho or rain suit to get through the rest of the comments on this list.

ps: I brought both a backpacking poncho and a rain suit to Philmont ...the Appalachian Trail and about 500+ other miles of backpacking....
