Dave,
When we trekked last summer, we did not use the stove for breakfast.
Only one adult could not break his caffiene addiction prior to the trek and
he INSISTED in drinking his instant coffee cold so as not to slow us down
(He was always the last to shoulder his pack so he always slowed us down
but that's a story for a different time). I was the only one who desired to eat their oatmeal
hot, so I denied myself that pleasure to get on the trial. The oatmeal breakfasts
always come with plenty of other things to eat so you may not HAVE to cook
with a stove in the morning.

We also use Jet Boil stoves and will be taking them to Philmont.
Have you determined how many fuel canisters you'll need per
stove. I am assuming we're going to need to boil water for every dinner
and perhaps 5 breakfasts. We will have one stove per four scouts. I
know there is a difference in boil time at 500 feet (where we're
at), 7,000 feet, and 10,000 feet - just haven't figured out the differences
yet.
Thanks, Dave
