Tony,

All an aluminum gutter spike is, is a tempered aluminum tent stake made to order. It's cheaper and more resistant to bending than aluminum tent stakes. They are not that difficult to find and can be bought in large quantities cheaply.

Look through Seldens pages for an article I wrote several years ago complete with the name of a company that makes them you can order them from.

It beats carrying the electric drill any day.

Gutter nails are great, but they don't use them in our area anymore and they can't be found. The long screws they now use would work to hold up the Coleman lantern, and you can put the cordless drill in with the crew gear.

We have two Eagle scouts going to Rayado this summer, and another is going back as a ranger who hopes to be a Rayado ranger. Their love of that place is contagious in our troop.

  Tony
