In 2000, our two crews ended up as sister crews. While we did not
request this and each crew had a different priority of their five treks.
Our common trek selected by both crews was Trek #11. In
hindsight this actually made our trip better. Each crew functioned
as a separate crew but it also allow us to see each other during the
trek. Our Philmont Planning Committee this year plans to have our
two crews to apply as sister crews because of this excellent
experience. We do all of our pretrek hikes as separate crews, so
our crews know how to function separately. However, while I
recommend the sister crew concept, I do not recommend the two
crews to function as one. If your two crews function as one then
you are depriving your crews of part of the Philmont experience.
