In 1995, I met a 69 year old Scouter from Wisconsin at
the Tooth Ridge Camp. He was on his 5th trek with the
first trek taking place when he was 59. His crew was
on a 'strenuous' trek but I don't remember which one.
He was a very interesting guy who had lived overseas for
many years and finally settled in Wisconsin.
As far as the number of treks, Walt Keating of New York
took part in 33 treks before he passed away at age 82 in
1992. According to Rock Rohrbacher's "Philmanac--A
Trekkers Guide to the Philmont Backcountry", Dr. David
Nilsson of Austin, Texas, had made 32 treks as of 1997.
