The post below from grannynoah, sounds like it is referring to activities on
the Training Center side of Philmont & won't be what scouts encounter who
are there for the trail.

My sons have always had a mild interest in trading & I would say it is
definitely worth taking CSP's to Philmont with the hopes of trading. The
hang-out place to do so by the snack bar, especially in the evening when
they reopen after campfires. If trading is something you look forward to,
go prepared to do it! Certainly, the volume of trading is not like being at
a NOAC or JAMBO event, but still is an opportunity to find trades from all
over the place, even international. Last summer I had someone ask for the
CSP on my shirt. I'm not much of a trader & had not brought any with me,
not was I willing to take the CSP off the shirt, cause I'm not really
excited about sewing any of them on more than once. He was very
disappointed with that answer. I offered to send him one when I got home,
but I guess he didn't want to take the risk that badly because he said no.
Oh well. It wasn't my loss. Point is, there will be people at PHilmont
who want to trade. . . .
