I would like to use this post as a gentle reminder of using appropriate
terminology. In fact, the only scouts in a Venture Crew would be boys.
Venture is a patrol name reserverd for Boy Scout Troops. *Venturing Crews*
are the co-ed units of the newer BSA program, and the youth members are
known as Venturers, not Venture scouts. There is way too much confusion on
this issue, and it bears repeating until the consciousness of scouters
everywhere is raised enough that the mistake is no longer commonly made.
Our own council publications even print it wrong & some professional staff
act ignorant when we ask them to use proper language!
In answer to your question about female advisors with an all male crew, I
will punt on that one and leave the answer to those who've had that
experience.
