Depends on timing. I think Brian is right, get to CHQ early as possible.
If there is time after completing check in, you can do some other things.
We got to CHQ early and had an early bus the next day. With the delay at
the Health Lodge and a Ranger that was not very efficient with time, we did
not have any down time before the trek. Our last night on the trail was in
Tooth Ridge Camp and we were back at CHQ early. We had plenty of time that
day to tour the Villa, go to Cimarron on the free shuttle, and eat real
food.
